Expressing and processing through painting in circles:
Art can be a ‘simple’ yet complex expression of innermost challenges, whether physical or emotional, and the creative process of making art can lead to various stages of healing. Art is a form of therapy and an extremely important outlet for any person.
Expressing yourself in art is a profound process of working with the senses.....feeling, creating, living the beauty, joy and sorrow, expressing yourself on a level that is hard, often impossible, to verbalise.....and, even in the absence of one or more of the senses, another sense will be highly developed to make up for it, enabling you, for instance, to ‘see’ by touching, smelling or listening. Even though this, or any other physical or mental disability, could be challenging, most artists, being strong-headed, complex, vulnerable, multi-layered beings, will find their way through the process to the end result.
In this painting I have worked through debilitating emotional and health problems with the use of many colours and simple brush strokes. An expression of a full circle of mourning loss, fighting change, accepting what is. A positive end result with the undertone of courage and reality.
